GRANFONDO STELVIO SANTINI
On Sunday, 3 June, an appointment in Bormio not to be missed: the Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini.
With more than 3000 participants and 4,178 meters of climbing, the Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini has been called one of the Top 10 best Gran Fondo’s in the world.
The race departs from Bormio and arrives at an impressive 2758 meters in altitude at the Stelvio Pass. There are three courses to choose from, short medium and long, with the latter including one of the toughest climbs in Europe, the notorious Mortirolo.
Participating in the Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini, you will experience firsthand the thrill of an event designed on the roads that have made the history of cycling great. Not so much a race, as it is a challenge with oneself, with one’s own limits and ambitions. It takes legs, of course, but also the heart and the mind to first attack the Mortirolo, followed by the Stelvio. If takes self-confidence, never doubting that you will cross the finish line, as you pedal towards the doors to the sky. It takes the ability to dream, to let yourself conquer the landscape that you’ll cross. The heat in the valley and the cold wind in the final hairpin turns, between two walls of snow. Historical climbs, where you try to ration your energy and then a frenetic descent, where you’ll forget every fear. And, all around, the forest scents, the silence and the spectacular alpine landscapes of the Alta Valtellina.
The Gran Fondo Stelvio Santini is long on emotion and kilometres, hairpin curves, sweat, courage, effort, determination, challenge, will and a great, infinite, priceless satisfaction when it ends, up there at 2758 meters in Stelvio, a legendary and unique day of cycling.
An event you absolutely must not miss. Will you be a champion?
